Hi all, I have two yearling Texas maps that have what appears to be dark green algae on areas of early scute growth. I’ve tried scrubbing it with a toothbrush and scraped it with my nail, but it doesn’t want to come off. Has anyone had experience with this condition? Thanks, Dick
Dick, this is pretty common but it puzzles me that you are unable to scrub it off. Could the algae be under the scutes, perhaps? Otherwise, you may want to ensure that they’re getting sufficient basking time and dilute the nitrate levels in your water by more frequent water changes. -Chun — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “rmbion”
