Hi everyone, Over the years I kept some aquatic turtles off and on,and have also have kept some snakes and iguanas. But this is the 1st dbt that I’ve ever owned.I know that the snakes and lizzards shed,so I was wondering do dbts shed also.I have never noticed this with the other turtles I’ve owned. The reason I ask is because my dbt seems to be shedding around his head.If any of you can help me I would greatly appreaciate this. Thanx,Mike

Aquatic turtles will shed two ways: the skin will peel off in small pieces like lizards do. It is usually not as excessive at lizards though. If you notice a lot falling up it may have an infection, They will also shed their scutes as they grow. You will see each scute flaking off. The scute will become white then traslucent before shedding. Hope this helps Julie Mike Dunn wrote:
