Hello All, About a month ago my DBT had a large “sac” that was hanging out of “her” anus. Not sure if that’s the correct term for a DBT’s opening on the underside of the tail. Sorr if there’s another name I am not aware of. I did some online reading an followed the instructions to put her in warm water in hopes the “sac” would retract back inside her tail. The warm water soak seemed to help a bit, but not enough. I called around and found a vet that who see my turtle. The vet suggested giving the turtle some anesthestic, then pushing the sac back inside her tail and putting a small stitch to reduce the size of the tail opening. I agreed and the vet proceeded. Since that time my turtle has eaten very little of her food sticks, and has only had 1 verified bowel movement. The stitch the vet put in was supposed to dissolve, but hasn’t. My normally happy, sweet turtle seems stressed. She use to be very calm when I handled her, now she is very fussy. Should I remove the stitch? I am worried the “sac” will come out again. The vet suggested that my turtle might be a male and that the sac could be a hemi-penes. I would welcome any suggestions and advice. Frustrated and worried in Florida, Renee’

Post some pics of the tail vent etc. If its a male they do show off there goods sometimes, but they usually go back inside of them. If its a female there might be other issues. I am worried if its a male and you stitched him shut maybe he is stressed because he can not let his dogs out.
