sores on Diamondback skin

Can anybody tell us if they have had a diamondback that has had a skin infection where the skin turns lumpy and purpleish and now today it is also yellowish (pussy looking but not oozing). This is all over the backside, and in about 1/2 dozen spots on the neck and arms. Vet thinks it is a skin infection and started Baytril antibiotic injections yesterday. So far, no sign of improvement. Also we are giving her warm salt soaks several times per day. Her appetite has not been affected. It is good. But tonight we are seeing a very slight jerk in her head every now and then. Wondering if this is a skin infection or maybe it is a reaction to some allergy such as a insect bite? She was out walking in the garden for about 10 minutes on Sun. Do you think this is something that requires further medical attention tonight or tomorrow? Thanks for any help. Denise and Chuck
My female Chesapeake that just laid her eggs had very similar sounding bumps. When I got her she had some nasty lesions on her hind feet. I gently scrubbed them daily with a toothbrush and betadine prior to placing her in her sand bin. I think grains of sand entered through the open sores and made their way under her skin in the area surrounding the sores. I believe she formed little cysts around each grain in an attempt to contain the infection. At first the little bumps around her sores looked purplish but then as they hardened and came closer to the skin’s surface they looked more yellowish. I have been able to squeeze out each yellow cyst and then betadine the hell out of the remaining little holes. If she wasn_t looking to lay her eggs I would have kept her out of the sand_ but now that she_s done laying her 13 eggs, I_ve been able to keep her sores much cleaner and they are healing very well. As each bump turns yellow I swish it out and clean it very well. Each little hole has been healing well to date… many are completely gone. I have no idea if this is what is happening with your diamondback. Perhaps she found herself in a plant with tiny little splinters? An idea if nothing else. Good luck!
