Hopefully someone has somewhat of positive news for me. My DBT “Dude” whom I have had for 2 years has recently been changing his behaviors. Not really a ton has changed as far as what I have done for him in dieting or water changing ect… with the excepting of a bit more algea but not enough to seem like it would be bad. Making this more now to the point. He isnt really wanting to get off of his basking platform. He hasnt eaten in about 3-4 days (that I know of) and he is pooping on his basking platform. He used to get excited like any DBT and almost fly to the front of the glass when anyone would come near. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi again Chris, i just read your last post. Sorry I must have missed it. You dont need to change 100% of his water though DBTs need pristine water to stay healthy. important how much water he is in (tank size?)and you have to maintain the filter sponges and do partial water changes often. keeping the same water temp so there is no shock or stress from change when refilling. he can go without eatting for sometime so dont worry yet about that. he must either be feeling the season change or he doesnt have enough heat on his dock to feel well and may be getting ill or vitamin deficiant. he must be able to thermoregulate on his own. (go from warm to cool as he needs as he is cold blooded) what are the water temps? ambient temps and basking dock temps.. VERY important! what is his diet? VERY important. does he get calcium (cuttlebone with the hard side cut off) does he have an unexpired UVB as they are avid baskers. can he dry off complelty on his dock while basking? From: Chris

What is this about the “hard part cut off” of the cuttle bone? I have never heard this before. What part would be the hard part? I provide cuttle bones to my water turtles as well as my three tortoises and I just break them into a few chunks and put them in their tank/habitat.SusieSent from my iPad
