Hi all- I just wondered if there was a problem with switching from fresh to brackish water for a turtle who has lived in freshwater its whole life… Just got done with dealing with some fairly serious shell issues & want to change the environment for my guys to help keep them as healthy as possible. Any thoughts? Is this okay to do? – (I realize they will need access to fresh drinking water regularly, but aside from this…) Thanks so much! Heather

They will only benefit from it.Depending on the salinity you choose, they may or may not need fresh drinking water.1.014 SG is def a safe choice. Thanks Joe, I’ve torn my tank down, dry docked & medicated my three guys for the last two weeks due to some type of bacteria that was affecting their shells. One of my three almost died due to this (her shell was peeling/cracking/bleeding) & Im terrified to put them back into the tank with out switching to brackish water, as Im sure they are very susceptible to more shell troubles right now. They have been out of the tank for 14 days now, with a couple hours a day of swimming time & even though the shells are not 100% they need to go back in the water… Thanks for your thought- Heather
