She’s not talking like Mr. Ed, doesn’t have the vocabulary of my 3 year old, but she squeaks! I thought perhaps it was her nose whistling from her bout with pneumonia but she only does it in protest of something. I picked her up to put betadine on her and she started squeaking. I was sure it was the cat, but the cat was in the basement. She has been squeaking for the past couple of days if I pick her up or if she doesn’t like to be in her enclosure. If she starts whining, then I will really go bonkers! Is this normal for turtles (or have I gone insane–don’t answer the insane part). I didn’t think turtle anatomy was meant for squeaking–what’s up with that?

Is this the same keeper that thinks there is beer in the turtle pond? The only noise that I ever notice is that when I pick her up and she quickly retracts her head inside her shell there is some rapid movement of air being expelled from inside the shell to make room for the head coming into the shell. Could that be the squeek? I think a turtle has a built in whoopie cushion! 😉 Bob
