Do dbt perfer higher tanks or wider tanks?
I would think that most any aquatic animal would prefer wider tanks with more room to roam around in. -Chun
Yeah, I think if budget is your main concern and you have to choose a tall, skinny tank vs a shorter, wider tank (of the same length) I’d go with the wider one. However, a 40 gallon breeder has been ideal so far for me. I got it on sale for $70. I believe it was normally $100. It measures 36x16x18. It’s about 2/3 full, so that’s about 10 inches of depth plus plenty of roaming area. I agree wider is better for most aquatic turtles. Breeder aquariums like the 40 are better than tall, thin models like a standard 30 or 55 gallon. A 50 gallon Rubbermaid livestock tub/trough is a nice size, too, if height is a concern. The 100 gallon (twice as deep at 24 inches) would be better if a plastic tub rather than a glass tank is an option. Todd
My tubs are 100 gallon tanks and my adults seem to really like them. Jonathan http://www.geocities.com/diamondbackterrapins — In diamondbackterrapins@y…, “Todd Stockwell”
I would say wider. Jonathan
