Hi all- My name is Christina Watters and I’m the Research Assistant at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. I’m a member of this group not because I am a terrapin pet owner but because I am involved with and interested in wild terrapins. I enjoy the postings by members of this group because it gives me great insight on a great number of things relating to terrapins. The Wetlands Institute (where I work) is a non-profit research, education, and conservation organization that focuses on coastal salt marsh environments. The Institute is supported by admissions, memberships, and donations. We do not receive any government funding. Our primary research focus is on the northern diamondback terrapin and we’ve been running the Terrapin Conservation Project for 15 years now. I wanted to let all of you know about our “Adopt a Terrapin” program and hope that some of you might want to participate. The terrapin adoption starts at $10 and has several levels. All of the levels have various benefits such as photographs, terrapin crossing signs, etc. and ALL of the money goes to support our research. I hope that some of you would like to help us and I thank you in advance for your support. If you’re intersted in adopting or want more info about our program e-mail me off the listserv (katina342@…) and I’ll give you the details. Thanks so much for your support, I appreciate it and so do the terrapins. Keep up the good info!! Thanks! Christina Check us out at http://www.terrapinconservation.org and http://www.wetlandsinstitute.org

Hi Christina, It is a pleasure having you on the group. I wish we had more conservationist and field researcher types to balance out the majority of us hobbyiest/armchair researchers! I’m sure I have a link to your site, but could you post the link to it so we can find out more about the adoption program? Thank! -Chun
