Terrapin Education Hello, I’m new to this list and hope this post is appropriate to the general discussion among the group. I’m in the process of developing an environmental education unit for fourth grade students with a focus on the importance of wild beach habitat in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland. I would like the unit to center on the study of diamondback terrapins, how students can work to help conserve the species and how the terrapin relies on a healthy environment for its survival. I’ve met with staff the MD Department of Natural Resources and they have been very helpful in helping to develop ideas and partnering with us on this program. If anyone on the list is aware of educational programs that have focused on terrapins as a study for the elementary level and can share this information, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I’m having a very difficult time finding age appropriate articles and especially children’s literature related to diamondback terrapins. Thank you for any help that you can provide. Sincerely, Tom Harten CHESPAX Calvert County Public Schools

Hey Tom, I can’t directly answer your question, but I also teach 4th grade and would love to check out your website once you get something set up.
