I have terrapin eggs inside of a Hova-Bator Incubator sealed in Rubbermaid containers using vermiculite as bedding. I made sure that the vermiculite was not wet, just moist, before I put the eggs in it. I just noticed that there was some condensation on a couple of the eggs. Is this normal? Jonathan
In my experience the only time you see moisture on dbt eggs is when they are just layed. After that I think that condensation on eggs either means the vermiculite is too moist or the eggs are just about to hatch. My eggs always show slight indentation right before they hatch and sometimes I see little drops of moisture. It would only be around the end of the egg that the babies is coming out of and it isn’t very much. If it doesn’t look like they may be hatching I would lift the corner of the container lid to let vermiculite dry a bit. I personally would carefully try to blot the excess moisture off the eggs with a SOFT tissue. Good luck, Vickie
