I just returned from a wonderful conference devoted to diamondbacks, their ecology and conservation. In Maryland we have designated a special day May 13 as this is when we should start looking for them. In the range just off shore at this time one may observe twenty or so looking to mate. Later towards June we see them scanning the sand to approach and lay their nest. We can observe nesting and ultimately hatching. What a joy this is! I hope to post some photos of our research soon.
