Hey all, I just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts/opinions on the progress of a young DBT that is recovering from a respiratory infection. She was brought to the vet and she is on antibiotics (ampicin or something?) which is given to her every 3 days. Before she was taken to the vet and “officially” diagnosed and treatment ensued she was basking nonstop, extremely lethargic, not very alert at all, and some bubbling and whatnot. After treamtment started she was much more alert, she actually will swim around (not a lot but she will at a slower pace), her eyes look much better, and she’s not sleeping all hours of the day. So we see this as being good sings of improvement over a weeks time (with only 3 shots of the antibiotic so far – I think there are 7 shots left). We are wondering on 2 things though… first, her appetite is still rather low (she’ll grab a couple pellets and then stop eating or she won’t eat) – now this could just be due to the stress of receiving the antibiotic shots and recovering. Second she has not been doing any basking since (at least not that we have seen). We’ve kept the temps at comfortable levels specific to her species (same as she’s always had – so no change here). Overall we see her as getting better and making good progress and are going to continue with the antibiotics and keep an eye on her. We wanted to see what everyone’s opinions were on the last 2 issues with her appetite and her not basking (as we’ve seen). On a side note, I dry-docked her for a half hour or so today – thought this might be good since she hasn’t basked as we’ve seen. Thank you for your time! Any comments are welcome! She’s a tough cookie 🙂 -= Chris & Cyndi
