Hi, We found a DBT on the beach and brought it home. The DBT is about 4 inches and loves shrimp. He won’t touch pellets I’m trying to give him Mazuri Fresh water turtle food. Does anyone have some suggustions on how to get my DBT to eat pellets? What is the best type of filter ( Canister or power ) ? can I use the ZooMed UVA/UVB powersun lamp for basking and UVA/UVB ? What is the smallest tank we should get? We don’t plan on breeding or adding additional turtles at this time. Thanks Mark

I have 2 dbts, both rescued as babies. One eats the pellets and the other doesn’t, but just lately I have been putting the picky one in a seperate feeding tank with water and 5 or 6 pellets (the Mazuri – same as yours). He isn’t thrilled, but if I wait and don’t feed him one day, he will eventually (after maybe 20-30 minutes) eat a few of the pellets on the second day. I feel so mean doing it, but really want to get him used to having pellets sometimes, partly because fresh/frozen food is such a pain to always have around, and partly because I think he gets a more well rounded diet (and less fat) with the pellets.skyhawk5129 Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
