My brothers and sisters, I know this is totally off topic and I beg your forgiveness. I have pastorally been asked to help with the Tsunami devastation. People have asked how best to donate money or clothes and food stuffs to help relieve the suffering overseas. The absolute best thing to do is to send money. Clothes, food and needy stuff won’t really help as much as plain ol’ MONEY! Money will help now and in the greater needed long term, many months from now when the devastation will be history to most of us, but the lasting effects will be with those of the areas effected. Of the many groups asking for our contributions I humbly ask members if this list, despite our doctrinal differences, to please consider Catholic Relief as one of the best and most cost effective charities to serve the needy (over 90% of moneys collected goes to the need specified). There are others, yes, but in answering the question of where to give, I have NO hesitation to recommend this charity and I do so with prior investigation of their history and integrity. Please see http://www.catholicrelief.org/home.cfm Again, it is wrong to use this list for purposes not specified in the rules of the list. I do so only with apology and asking you prayerful compassion upon this global suffering. With profound sorrow, Dimitri Grekoff
