I’d suggest a basking area made of something like a few bricks with a piece of slate across the top. It’s super cheap, bricks are like .19 at lowe’s, and a piece of slate might cost a buck or two. You can get a few pieces, or work out something that you think they can climb. Then if you set it up kind of like a table, they can swim underneat it, and bask on top, so it takes up less space. No gravel to eat. I wouldn’t use gravel unless: A) it was larger than they could get into their mouths B) there was a UGF filter running, so it didn’t just hold waste and develop anorobic bacteria (bad bacteria) Temperatures in the low-mid 70’s are fine. If your AC in your house is not set below 72 or 73, it should work just great, as the ambient air temperature will be what the water is. In winter most people (well, at least me) don’t heat their homes to 70’s, so water heaters become important. if you are having trouble with the water heater touching the plastic, one thing I once did was take a section of PVC pipe, about twice as big around as the heater, and just slip it over it, with the outflow of the filter blowing through there, so it kept the heater flowed over with fresh water. A rock held the pvc in place, and pvc can handle a lot of heat just fine, and dispersed it before it touched the rubbermaid. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
