I was reading the January issue of Reptiles today (don’t know why, but they always send them to me SO early) and looking at the ads. Saw an ad for the Turtle Clean 501 filter and remembered reading about it somewhere. The scutes don’t get clogged in it and somehow it’s way better than those other filters. =P Anyone heard of it? I did a search, but turned up nothing. Think they’re any better than a fluval? Says it’s for up to 30 gallons. I also saw an ad for Jurassi Diet for aquatic turtles. It talks about other turtle foods using filler like corn meal, soy and whey that “lead to poor bone development”. The ad also says it has “a highly digestible protein source (35%)”. Does that mean it’s high in protein? That peaked my curiosity because I had just read at zoo med’s website that the aquatic hatchling diet was low in protein like it’s adult version. “Lower protein levels ensure proper shell development and healthy internal organs.” I’m confused….. anyone want to take a stab at it? Jurasic diet is a good product. The filter is an over priced peice of junk. It does less than an aquaclear 300. None of those are really “low protein” through. I use several herbivore fish pellets whcih are 29 – 35 percent but that close to as low as you can get. -rob — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “Candace”
