Greetings, I have a small 300 gallon pond in front of my home here in Maryland. In that pond live two painted turtles and one northern diamondback. The weather outside is clear, about 60 degrees. It is 11:21 at night. I am emailing because I came home from work at about 5:00 and my DB was sitting on the log on a cloudy day. I reached out and picked him up. He seemed to wake up and actively started kicking at me. He looks very healthy. I just walked outside (at 11:00pm) and one of the painted turtles was on top of the log and the DB was swimming at the surface. I was able to walk over and pick both up from the edge of the pond… again, both started pushing and look normal and healthy. I am just unfamiliar with turtles not swimming away and allowing me to pick them up??? Should I be worried?? Should I be moving them to the indoors pond? Why are my turtles swimming around in the middle of the night? And letting me pick them up? The pond is about 6 months old – the water is clear and a good filter is running – and the turtles have been in this pond for over 4 months – and they would never let me walk up on them before??? Thanks for any ideas, Mark
