I want to thank all who advised me from the group, especially Chun and Jonathon. I did lose two and I may lose more. I have 3 very weak ones who are on fluids and antibiotics but are showing signs of improvement. The other 3 are eating now and their skin has cleared up. I also found a great vet and he along with the Purdue University Biologists were able to get us some much needed advice. The skin infection took mine very fast, they were indoors in a tank with only a basking dock so this is part of the reason the skin infection probably spread so quickly. The bacteria culture won’t be back until later today. I really feel the fluids were the main thing as they had stopped eating cold turkey. Within the first 48 hrs stopped eating and one started with one tan colored spot turned into several. At one time I had 7 different containers going with heat, light, soaking, socking, whew… The fluids were so easy so I can’t say enough about getting help quickly. Mine was a unique case as from my collection of emails usually these skin patches don’t spread this quickly, nor does not eating kill so quickly but I don’t have the culture back yet on what or if I am fighting bacteria yet and if it is gram negative for sure. I will advise anyone not to add a new addition to any tank for 6 months unless you now the origin and all previous owners and history behind any new terrapin. I thought a 30-60 day period of isolation was enough. I was wrong. However if I had lived in a warmer climate and my terrapins had been outdoors most likely this wouldn’t have taken over so quickly. These were all 2-4 1/2 yr old macros. I just haven’t been able to get to all the emails but extremely appreciated all of the help and hang in there emails I have received. Thank you Lisa…
