Hi All, Does anyone have experience with UV sterilizers for their terrapin tanks? I read a couple posts from a while back and Rick said something about fishes will lose resistance to disease once you stop using the UV sterilizer. Will this happen to diamondbacks or any other turtles? Does a UV sterilizer help prevent bacterial infections? If anyone has used the UV sterilizer for a period of time and stopped using it, would you please share your experiences. Also, does anyone know if the UV will actually decholorinate tap water? I believe tap water (which has tiny amounts of cholorine) is actually good in killing off bacteria, so if the UV decholorinates the water, that might not be a good thing. Any comments are appreciated, and thanks in advance. Happy Thanksgiving!!! -James Check out my terrapin pics if you haven’t already. http://www.geocities.com/uniqueturtles

I use a UV steriliser on my adult tank. I need too. If I don’t have it running, they start to develop skin infections. But I do not keep my water too salty cause I never find time to let them drink regularily. UV sterilisers does not dechlorinate. It only kills micro-organism. It keeps my water very clear.
