I keep my two hatchlings (2″ and 3″) in a 75 gal tank with an adult Reeves. The water is 9-10″ deep. The hatchlings have no problem scooting around. But should the water be shallower? More water for me means a cleaner environment, but you may have different views. . .

Your reeves shouldn’t be in that much water. I think they prefer shallow slow moving water. I also know that reeves can get quite nasty towards other turtles, so keepa close eye on it around your babies. Julie Montreal,Quebec http://www.chelonian.net bassethound@… wrote:

I am no expert, but this is my experience. I have two hatchlings about the same size (3 inches), they are three months old. I have them in a 70 gal display tank, the water is 19inches deep. They’ve been living in the tank since they were a week old. When they first hatched I kept they in only a inch of water for a week. After a week I put them into the lager tank. It took them almost two weeks to gain enough strength to swim down to the bottom of the new tank. Every since then they swim up and down all the time. I can’t imagine that any tank would be too deep after they are over a week old and/or strong enough to swim good. Jonathan for .
