I have been a member of this group for a while but just usually lurk. I was doing a water change in my turtles tank today and my girlfriend noticed some tiny white worms in the water after the substrate had gotten stirred up a bit. My guess is possibly nematodes or some other intestinal parasite. I have had my turtle for about 5 years and never had any problems, he still seems fine; eats plenty, stong swimmer, clear eyes and skin. I keep his water about 76 degrees and his basking spot about 85. He has UVB. Its a 90 gallon tank (only one terrapin) that’s way overfiltered (mechanically and biolgically) and I do partial water changes weekly so I know its not a cleanliness issue by any means. Any thoughts would be great. Like I said, he acts fine but I don’t want this to become an issue. feel free to e-mail me at austinlbrown@… with any info. If you see this Beckee, I’ll be calling you later today (it’s now the 4th). 🙂 Austin
Austin, to tell you the truth, I still don’t know what these worms are, but we have covered this in the past and came to the conclusion that they are harmless, if that makes you feel any better! Let us know if you ever ID them. Thanks! -Chun — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “austinlbrown”
